French fishing boots ???

Canvas and leather, it's a winning team. I didn't know what to make of the boots, though.
French, marque ' Morvan' , very sturdy made but really lightweight. Thin rubber sole, strawlike, woven insole, canvas upper. Definetely not for work or walking.
These fishing brogues in a late 30's Barbours' Beacon catalog look pretty similar.
Lemmeknow if you have a better idea.
